Gujiyas
Holi - The vibrant festival will remain incomplete without scrumptious delicacies.
And one such famous food item, which is like a good loving heart, hard from the inside, soft and sweet from the inside - Gujiya.
Most households prepared Gujiyas on the onset of Holi, it is fun to make and better to eat and even better when we eat with special people.
The basic ingredients are maida, sugar, milk, khoya, coconut and ghee.
Gujiyas are given shape similar as the half moon.
Every bite of the gujiya has sweetness, flavours, perfect crunch and abundant love.
Bhang
The most famous item in Holi is bhang. It is also called the offering of "Lord Shiva" . It is made by leaves of an Indian hemp plant, Cannabis sativa.
Bhang can be consumed in various way such as it can be infused in thandai, fried as fritters (pakoda) ,bhang gujiya etc.
It is very famous in bihar & uttarpradesh.
It is believed that when lord Shiva drank poison from the ocean, his throat turned blue and caused a burning pain, to soothe the pain, he consumed bhaang,
since then this blend is known to elevate the spirits.
Thandai
thandai is a sweet milky drink and is loved by most people because of the refreshing taste and amazing flavours.
It is popular mainly in the hot regions of India such as U.P, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab
This chilled and refreshing drink is perfect to lift the spirits after the Holi hustle.
It is made with ingredients such as dry fruits, seeds and saffron rose petal paste (gulkand), Bhaang can also be added in thandai.
Fritters (Pakoda)
Fritters/ Pakoda which is a favourite desi food item of every Indian. Without pakora holi fun & food seems incomplete.
Pakora, also called pakodi, fakkura, bhajiya, bhajji, bhaji or ponako .
These are crispy snacks made by dipping veggies like patato ,
onion , cauliflower , paneer in a batter of salted and spices batter of besan and deep frying until golden brown.

Dahi Bhalle
dahi bhalle is a cool and refreshing chaat made with curd and crunchy veggies like onions and radishes on top of some vadas
with red chutney and green chutney on top for taste and a few spices to reason and give an edge to the taste.
Its refreshing properties make it a hit during Holi.
History of this dish is linked to the courts of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
